Ellen - 50 years old

Before Riverview…

Before I came to see Lori (Riverview Wellness Center) I had severe blistering on my hands and feet. I felt fatigued; I had unexplained weight gain and in general felt crappy.

Now…

I’ve lost over 20 pounds. I don’t have any more blistering on my hands or feet. I’m sleeping better and I’m totally re-energized. I feel great.

Most proud of…

Finally getting my health on track. This should have been my first stop not my last.

One thing that contributed to your success…

I have always felt that the doctors I had seen were missing the big picture. And now I know I was right and I’m glad I didn’t settle for their opinions and I followed my gut feelings.

My suggestion/tip for others…

Follow Lori’s instructions. The transformation will amaze you.

George - 43 years old

Before Riverview…

I couldn’t seem to lose weight no matter what I did. If anything it was slowly increasing. My energy levels were terrible. All I wanted to do after work was sit on the couch and watch TV. I’ve had trouble with heart burn and was convinced I would be on blood pressure medication the rest of my life.

Now…

Energy levels are great. I sleep great and wake up ready to go. I even started playing volleyball again. I’ve lost around 40 pounds and feel so much healthier. My blood pressure has been stable and I will be talking to my doctor soon about reducing my medication.

Most proud of…

Being able to stick with it. I love bread and pizza but have been able to stick to the diet. Seeing and feeling the difference, I don’t want to go back to what I used to eat.

One thing that contributed to your success…

Support. I am doing this with my wife and would not succeed without her help. Ashley has been wonderful and always quick to respond to any questions. Every one on the Riverview staff is friendly, and quick to help in any way they can. Friends and family have been wonderful.

My suggestion/tip for others…

Embrace it. Be creative with the menu. Look for recipes that will fit or can be altered. Try not to get discouraged and focus on how good you feel when you eat properly. Also, drink lots of water!

Sheena - 46 years old

Before Riverview…

“I was very overweight and suffered from severe heartburn, reflux, plantar
fascitis (horrible foot pain), low energy, restless sleep, sinus problems, mild depression, and memory problems.”

Now…

“Since Day 1 of my nutritional program I have had no heartburn/reflux. I can now eat foods that I’ve avoided for years without any problem. I have a ton more energy and feel better and better as I slowly lose weight!”

Most proud of…

“Saying “no” to foods that are not on my program. It’s hard in some social settings or restaurants, but I quickly explain that it’s not on my program and politely decline the foods that are bad for me.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“My husband! He is doing this program along with me and is my support system. We also enjoy cooking and trying new recipes together. I’m not in this alone.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“The only way to be successful is to commit. You have to make up your mind that you are tired of feeling lousy and take action. Also, educate yourself as you continue your program. I’ve learned a lot and look forward to learning more on becoming healthier!”

Roberta Lynn - 50 years old

Before Riverview…

“I felt like tired was normal. It certainly felt normal to me. Brain fog was a
constant companion as well as feeling anxiety, stress, and overweight.”

Now…

“Today I feel much improved. I am rested and thinking clearer. While I do still have my share of stress, I feel like I can handle it better and I look for ways to improve relaxation and exercise.”

Most proud of…

“I have many milestones this year to be proud of. I finished a 4 year degree, turned 50 years old, and enjoyed a significant anniversary. Many milestones would not have been met with so much joy if I did not visit Riverview.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Excellent expertise in areas that made sense with what I already know about myself.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Open yourself up to change. Embrace the techniques you may not understand. Understand that when you are more in tune with your health, many things can begin to improve.”

Marie - 50 years old

Before Riverview…

“I had been extremely ill for 4 years (hair loss and weight gain). I had been to 36 doctors, including many specialists. I had every test they could give and tried every treatment, procedure and medication and no
medical specialist could come up with an answer or anything to help me. I had severe vertigo, migraines, head pain and my body was very weak. Just before I came to see Lori my doctor told me “he had sent
me to all the specialists he could send me to, given me all the test her could give me and tried all the medications he could try and there wasn’t anything else he could do. He said you’re just going to have to accept this is how you are now and go live your life.” He was in the process of ordering me motorized wheelchair when a lady at my church told me about Lori.

I made an appointment, came to see her and at the end of my appointment I was in tears. Lori was the first one in 4 years that could actually tell me what she thought was out of balance and why I was so
sick. She told me exactly what it was going to take to make me healthy again and gave me the first bit of hope I had in 4 years. She found that I was intolerant to wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, sugar, corn and oats. Put me on a wonderful nutritional supplements to strengthen my adrenals and immune system and my overall body, and within a few weeks I was blossoming into a brand new healthy person again. It didn’t happen overnight; it was a process because I was a very sick and unhealthy person and in a deep depression. But Lori has helped me through it all. Week by week, month by month she has been there for me. Regardless of what situation she has known exactly what to give me to help me through it. Lori is truly my angel sent straight from heaven. She truly gave me my life back and I love her with all of my heart.”

Now…

“I am the healthiest and in the best shape of my life and I just turned 50 and proud of it.”

Most proud of…

“That for this whole past year I have been faithful to myself and to Lori and stuck to the nutritional plan she put me on and took my  supplements every day and was willing to do whatever it took to get healthy and stay healthy.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“That I was willing to do whatever it took to get healthy again.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Listen to Lori and do exactly what she says.”

Lisa - 26 years old

Before Riverview…

“I struggled to lose weight. I ate right and exercised, sometimes 3 times per day and nothing was working. I was at my breaking point.”

Now…

“I feel alive like I am a success! I feel empowered, and like a new person. I feel confident in my new body.”

Most proud of…

“I’ve lost 7.6% of body fat and 25 pounds so far. Something I was striving
to do before.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Sticking strictly to the plan given to me and exercising.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Stay with the plan and don’t give up! Keep moving!”

Bobbi - 35 years old

Before Riverview…

“I was having headaches, migraines, stomach pains, bloating, yeast infections monthly and abnormal menstrual cycles, lasting up to 17 days. I had to take time off from work due to all of these issues. I was on medicine for high blood pressure and diagnosed with Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis.”

Now…

“I am off of all blood pressure medications and regulating with my diet.
Stomach/digestive issues are to a minimum, only brought on when I eat
something that my body is unfamiliar with. My periods are now 7 to 8 days with light/regular cycles and very little cramping. I have also lost 45 sticks of butter.”

Most proud of…

“Realizing how strong a person I am, having the will power to stick to a strict diet and changing for a better positive life.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Consistency and a positive attitude.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Drink your water daily and if you slip from your plan, for your lifestyle
change for one day, don’t be hard on yourself. We are all humans. Get back to your plan, and start feeling good about yourself again.”

Chloe - 7 years old

Before Riverview...

Chloe had chronic heartburn, chronic constipation, and daytime wetting which was all caused by anxiety, according to her psychologist. She had also been diagnosed with ADHD which was causing frustration, lack of focus, and trouble sleeping. She was having a hard time at school.

Now...

Since we have eliminated gluten and dairy from her diet and started the
supplements, we have seen a drastic change all around. Her school work has gotten a lot better, she’s focusing more which is letting her enjoy dance, karate, soccer and more. Her frustration and anxiety levels have drastically decreased as well as her tantrums; her ability to reason has increased.

Most proud of...

Chloe is now able to complete school work as expected. Her daytime accidents have decreased dramatically.

One thing that contributed to your success...

I think the diet change has been the biggest part of her success. But the supplements definitely help.

My suggestion/tip for others...

Stick to the diet! We can tell by Chloe’s mood and actions when she has eaten something that she shouldn’t. She gets moody, irritable, bumps on her cheeks and worst of all, an upset tummy.

Mary - 65 years old

Before Riverview...

"I was always afraid to see my blood work results because of high triglycerides and bad cholesterol. I kept gaining weight and never felt good about how I looked in my clothes. I was overweight. I had heartburn consistently and sometimes stomach pain."

Now...

"The bad cholesterol is at an acceptable level. My triglycerides have dropped significantly. I look so much better my clothes. I have more energy. I lost 25 pounds. The heartburn is much less and stomach pain just about non-existent."

Most proud of...

"Lowering weight and lowering bad cholesterol."

One thing that contributed to your success..

"The information and education I was given on what foods to eat, how much and what to avoid."

My suggestion/tip for others...

"Be totally honest with your nutritionist. They have great ideas for vercoming obstacles. Keep in mind that you are changing your lifestyle because you want to be healthy."

Carol W. - Age 68

Before Riverview…

“On 3/26/04 I weighed 178 pounds and had a body fat of 42%. Even though I felt well and exercised regularly, I wanted to look better and have more energy. One month into this program, I had lost 10 pounds, and 6% body fat – I was motivated!”

Now…

“I now weigh 138 pounds, and have 24% body fat. I love all the compliments I receive and many of my friends and family have followed me into the program. I fell great! No more bloating and all systems are working well! This has become a lifestyle for me and my family.”

Most proud of…

“Losing and maintaining 40 pounds of weight loss.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Staying motivated and family support.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Don’t get discouraged – stay with the program even if you slip for a while.”

Chrissy - Age 44

“The positive changes that I have experienced since beginning the wellness program with the help of Lori and the Riverview Wellness Center staff have been life-changing.”

Before Riverview…

“I was tired, exhausted, really rundown, over extended & overweight. My mind was constantly in a fog. I had also spent several years refusing to give into the idea that I was depressed. Even though I had no ambition, no joy for living and had to literally drag myself out of bed every morning, I went through each day thinking this was all a normal part of life for a busy wife and mother of 4.”

Now…

“Within days of making the changes recommended, the fog began to lift. Over a few short weeks I was once again excited about my daily routine and looking forward to each day. The pounds and body fat began to come off and with that came an incredible increase in my energy levels and self esteem. I’ve lost 30 pounds off my 5’2” frame. While the outward changes are wonderful and obvious, the inward benefits, both physical & mental, have made the difference between only existing & truly living.”

Most proud of…

“I was able to take control of an area that was out of control - FOOD!”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“My success came from the mind set that I was worth it; the time to care for myself and the financial investment.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Embrace the simplicity of the eating plan. I felt the limited choices were actually a positive. I knew what I could have and what I couldn’t- no asking myself- “what do I feel like having for lunch?”

Fred - Age 77

Before Riverview…

“For a period of 2 months or more, I experienced a decline in my energy level; I also didn’t sleep as soundly as I had been used to in previous months.”

Now…

“I regained my customary energy level in a 2 week period and found that I slept much better.” In addition to feeling better, I found in that first 2 weeks that I had lost 14 lbs., and I was at 10.5% body fat. I had not even come to the center for this reason. I continue after 2 years and feel great”

Most proud of…

“I am reverse aging – I am a senior citizen of 77 years now but I feel 45!
I have a high energy level, and I’m most grateful.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Following directions – Do it!”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Love yourself enough to do this!”

Jamie - Age 33

Before Riverview…

“I had a continuous fluctuation between constipation and diarrhea. I had to know were every bathroom was if I went out after eating at a restaurant. My skin was always breaking out and I had terrible mood/anger swings.”

Now…

“I am regular now. My skin has never looked better and I rarely have a flare up in temper. I haven’t felt this healthy in a long time.”

Most proud of…

“That I am able to stick to a diet/lifestyle routine without sacrificing too many things. And to finally take control of food instead of it controlling me.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Lori and the Riverview Wellness Center staff. They are willing to guide you every step of the way.

Thank you for all you have done!”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Plan ahead! Make meals ahead of time. Keep nut thins, rice cakes etc. in your car. Do whatever it takes to plan ahead! This will help you to avoid bad food and drink choices.”

Julie - Age 37

Before Riverview…

“I was very unhappy and overweight. I craved sweets and sugar horribly. I had no energy and felt helpless.”

Now…

“I look and feel like a new person. I have lost over 50 lbs. and have an amazing amount of energy. I no longer crave the sugars and sweets responsible for all the extra weight I was carrying around.”

Most proud of…

“I have yo-yo dieted all my life, hoping for the weight loss to be permanent. This program isn’t a diet, but a lifestyle change that I can and will make permanent. I never want to feel that way again. I know that this is possible.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“I believe that Lori and all her staff have contributed to my success. They are always so helpful and definitely great cheerleaders. When I leave the office, I feel so good about myself. Lori is an amazing individual.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“It is very important to take your supplements and stick to your meal plan. You can do it. After a short period of time, it all becomes a habit, one of the best habits you can have!”

Karla – Age 50

Before Riverview…

“Things were dark – I remember seeing things in a tunnel-like vision. I couldn’t see in the future. Life was hour by hour. I felt angry. My biggest issue was Seasonal Affective Disorder. Some day’s I couldn’t get out of bed. I slept with earplugs in so I wasn’t aware of the time. I wanted to sleep away the winter. Prozac wasn’t working. I had issues with menstrual spotting; I had two sonograms and two biopsies and still couldn’t figure it out. I also had a problem with dry eyes. The Optometrist recommended eye drops but they only worked for a few hours. Also, I was diagnosed with seasonal allergies; both advair and singulair were prescribed however, I had terrible side effects from both.”

Now…

“Now, life is good! I can actually look at the snow and find it’s beauty. It’s hard to remember how bad I was. The program has made me a different person. I don’t have spotting, dry eyes, depression, nor do I have the constant cough with seasonal allergies. I also no longer take any medications for these symptoms.”

Most proud of…

“Getting over the Seasonal Affective Disorder”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Following the program”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Have Faith – it works!”

Kim - Age 39

Before Riverview…

I was under the care of my 2 primary doctors - PCP and endocrinologist.  I was taken out of work due to increased dizziness, confusion and disorientation. They couldn’t figure out why I was constantly dizzy, suffered from headaches, was dehydrated, and had a thyroid that was out of whack. I was hospitalized 8 times for the dehydration.

Now…

I am almost 100% better.  My first 45 minute visit with Lori has changed everything. I now know that my condition was all related to food intolerances.  She suggested that my adrenal glands may be weak.  These glands are called the “stress glands”.  I made a change to my diet.  Food intolerances are the culprits and are the reason for some of my problems.

Most proud of…

I just can’t believe in one month what Lori has done for me that medical doctors couldn’t do or figure out over the past 2.5 years.

One thing that contributed to your success…

I came to see Lori and did exactly what she told me to do.  I wished I had come earlier to see her.

My suggestion/tip for others…

Know that alternatives to medical intervention exist.

Leah – Age 56

Before Riverview…

“Before coming to the wellness center I dealt with being overweight. I suffered from migraine headaches and I was moody. Nothing seemed to interest me.”

Now…

“Now I feel great and have more ambition than I have ever had. My migraines are gone! I am happy with myself and that reflects on my family and everyone around me. The weight loss is great and I love shopping for new clothes and don’t have to shop in the plus sizes any more. I wish to thank everybody at the Wellness Center for your help and support.”

Most proud of…

“Losing the weight. I didn’t think I could do it.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“The support of friends and staff”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Give it a try. Do not get discouraged.”

Maggie O. - Age 55

Before Riverview…

“Five years ago, I was diagnosed with diabetes, cancer of the kidney, and fatty liver. I conquered the cancer, but my diabetes Type II was out of control. I went from one drug to two, plus insulin. The insulin just kept going higher and higher. My fatty liver was getting worse also. I couldn’t lose weight or control my body. I was on a terrible downhill spiral.”

Now…

“Within one month my fatty liver was back to almost normal. My insulin was discontinued. My future prognosis was possibly getting off one pill for diabetes. I began to lose weight. That was not a goal, but a pleasant added feature! My fatty liver is now normal. I no longer take insulin. My one pill is cut in ½ right now. My energy level is great. I am no longer exhausted by 4 pm.”

Most proud of…

“I am in control of my body naturally. I no longer take insulin!”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“I have been steadfast to my diet, my supplements, and exercise.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“You must have a “stick to it” attitude and be the one in control of your needs in spite of what a doctor or drug company “thinks you need."

Marilyn P. - Age 56

Before Riverview…

“ I was overweight, tired all the time, had no energy, and had health problems. I did not like shopping for clothes – it was difficult to find something that fit and looked decent.”

Now…

“To date I have lost 58 pounds. I have a lot more energy, sleep better, feel better, look better, have more confidence, and I am happier. I love shopping for clothes. I am a size that I have not been in for the 20 years.”

Most proud of…

“I have changed my lifestyle – eating healthy, exercising at the gym 4 days per week. I am proud that I have done such a good job, and have been so successful.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Discipline, control, dedication, keeping focused on my goals of being healthy and losing weight. Riverview Wellness has helped me to change my life by showing me how to eat healthy, and gave me the tools to accomplish my goals.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Clean out your cupboards; remove all food temptations from your house. Write down what you eat. Drink a lot of water. Be in control, don’t let food control you. Do it for yourself. I was the kind of person who did things for everyone else. I still do, but now I am taking care of myself too. Your family will benefit too. I am truly grateful to Riverview Wellness and the people who work there.”

Paul - Age 54

Before Riverview…

“I had fibromyalgia for at least 10 years; I was on Lipitor, Protonix, and Albuterol and was having a hard time losing weight. I had a lot of stomach trouble and always carried Alka-Seltzer with me. I had a poor energy level. I had pain all over, especially in my legs. I didn’t like the way I looked or felt.”

Now…

“In 6 months, I lost 46 lbs. & 12.2 % body fat. I no longer need my medications. My pain level has improved as well as my energy. I feel myself again - I feel good, look good and get a lot of compliments!”

Most proud of…

“I feel satisfied with the food that I’m eating and look forward to eating.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“I have sustained my weight loss for over 2 years.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“I had a lot of support and help at home with my partner. Just set your mind to do it!”

Susan L. - Age 37

Before Riverview…

“I was terribly sick. I had been diagnosed with sarcoidosis in 2004 and it was getting progressively worse. I had been out of work for 2 months last year. I was taking prednisone, inhaled steroids, anti-depressants and Singulair/Albuterol. I had gained a lot of weight and was miserable.”

Now…

“Wonderful. I now take NO prescription medications and rarely even a Tylenol. I have the energy I had before I got sick. In fact, I’d forgotten how I felt before – it had been so long that I was exhausted, sick, and unhappy. I’m my old self again.”

Most proud of…

“I’m most proud of getting off all my medications. My pulmonologist believes my sarcoidosis is in remission and may never return. Almost as incredible, I’ve lost 40 pounds in just three months! So easy. I never thought I’d be the size I was before I had 3 kids.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“You have to follow the program exactly. In order to change unhealthy habits you must fully commit to the program. When you take control of life and your wellness, everything in your life improves!”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Tell people you are going to Riverview Wellness Center. If reinforces your commitment when you verbally convey your intentions to others. Also, you won’t be able to “cheat” on the program if you’ve told them you’ve decided to get healthy. You’d look silly.”

Rebbecca – 55 years old

Before Riverview…

“I was very overweight, walked with a waddle, and I couldn’t play with my granddaughter.  I had stomach problems, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure.  I didn’t like myself.  It is hard when you have to go out to eat and ask for a table because you can’t fit in a booth.”

Now…

“After just 6 months I have lost 78 pounds.  I no longer take blood pressure medicine.  I no longer have to use my machine for sleep apnea.  I look a lot better and feel the best I have in many years.  I like myself”.

Most proud of…

“I can now take a shower without a chair.  I can now take a bath and be able to get in and out of the tub.  But most of all, I can get on the floor and play with my granddaughter, and run with her.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Lori and her staff have really been there to encourage me.  They made me feel I am important and can do this.  Also, my husband also followed the eating plan.  He has lost 55 pounds.  Without him it would have been a lot harder.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Remember you are important and that you are doing this for you.  Don’t be hard on yourself.  If you slip, God knows I have, just go right back to the plan.  Enjoy the new and improved you!

Thank you Lori and staff.  You gave me my life back.”

Megan - 24 years old

Before Riverview…

“My hands were broken out in a “rash like” condition that was so bad I would wake up at night scratching them or scratch them in my sleep to the point when they would bleed.  My husband would wake me up to tell me to stop.  Then they would get so sore and swell to the point where it hurt to do everyday things like washing dishes and milking our cows.  Then it started traveling up my arms and after seeing dermatologists for a year without any progress, a good friend gave me the number for Riverview.”

Now…

“Great!  I’ve been seeing Lori at Riverview for just 3 months and it is 75% healed.  I found that I am intolerant to gluten and through a chain reaction in my body that was the main cause for my rash and gassy gut.  By cleaning up my diet – and that alone, I am clearing up the problem.”

Most proud of…

“Getting my hands cleared up was my main concern but there were a few other perks as well.  When I first saw Lori she also told me that my adrenals were stressed and she asked me if I work with a lot of stress.  “Well yeah but who doesn’t anymore” I thought.  After taking some herbs she recommended, a month later I went back and she said my adrenals feel good.  Then I told her that I had stopped biting my nails – something I have tried to stop for a lifetime!  I asked her ok, what was it that made me want to bite my nails?  She said your stressed adrenals could do that.  I was in shock.  That’s so cool I said.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“Staying clear of gluten and dairy as Lori had instructed.  It’s crazy she  assesses you and has your whole body figured out in fifteen minutes and knows it better that I!”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Be open minded.  Listen and follow their recommendations and instructions.  If someone told me that my rash was from eating gluten and if my nail biting habit was just stress and a clean diet and a few herbs could fix it, I would have laughed and said “ok health holistic weirdo”  Ha Ha!  But I am living proof and know what I’ve tried and have done,  and only until after I met Lori and listened to her instructions did I see results.  No dermatologist did that for me!”

Donna - 52 years old

Before Riverview…

“I was in bad shape.  I didn’t have the energy to get out of the chair to even do housework.  I was depressed, lethargic, cold all the time, not able to sleep, had poor skin and most of all, morbidly obese.”

Now…

“I feel like a new person.  I walk and play with my grandchildren like a 35 year old.  I have tons of energy.”

Most proud of…

“I am most proud of the fact that I have lost 116 pounds to date and am continuing on my journey to reach my goal weight.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

There is no one thing that has contributed to my success.  It was many things.  Diet, exercise, counseling, determination, and an I am not going to quit attitude.  Most of all the people who encouraged me, stood by me and especially the ones that walked side by side with me.

My suggestion/tip for others…

Firstly, follow Lori’s eating plan, take your supplements and don’t give up.  Without this first step, you are dead in the water.  I had to learn how and what to eat.  Lori taught me how to do that.

Secondly, you need a core group of people to help you.  Draw your strength from them.  I joined a gym to learn how to exercise.  I am more fit than I have ever been in my life.  Many times I left there in tears because it was so hard, but the people made me want to come back each time.  I needed their encouragement, recognition, and understanding.

Thirdly, I went to counseling.  I had to figure out why I was so unhealthy.  I wanted to get off the roller coaster ride I had been on all my life.  I had to understand why I used food to make me feel better.

Lastly, remember, anything worth doing is never easy.  It is usually difficult and fraught with obstacles.  When you fall, get back up, over and over and over.  DON’T QUIT.  Slow and steady wins the race.

Betsy - 52 years old

Before Riverview…

“I was tired all the time.  My joints were achy and I had no energy.  I was unhappy and discouraged with how I looked and felt.”

Now…

“I feel good.  I have increased energy.  I’m happy with the way I look and excited about becoming even healthier and more fit.”

Most proud of…

“Becoming healthier, having more energy to play with my grandchildren.”

One thing that contributed to your success…

“I feel good and continue to lose weight and body fat.  In other attempts, previous to this, I would get discouraged because it was slow and I couldn’t always see results.  I haven’t felt this good in years.”

My suggestion/tip for others…

“Get in the mindset this is a new healthy way of life, not a quick fix diet.  My mantras are “Junk in, junk out” and “Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels
