Heather Rice is a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Her counseling business is a separate entity located within the Riverview Wellness Center where she provides professional counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups. Heather practices a variety of counseling techniques, and is a holistic, wellness oriented counselor specializing in assistance with a variety of issues. She has been helping individuals recognize their personal strengths through growth and self-discovery by providing a customized treatment plan based on individual's needs. She practices from a wellness perspective utilizing a person-centered approach to assist in developing a healthy mind, body, and spirit. Heather provides youth, adult, and group therapy, as well as consultation, psychosocial education for families, providers, and educators on a variety of topics and issues. Heather provides advocacy within a variety of systems in which individuals and families are involved.

In addition to counseling children with difficulties associated with trauma, grief and loss, and domestic violence and abuse, Heather has extensive experience working with emerging adults who have a diagnosed learning disability, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, as well as a variety of physical disabilities.

Heather is a member of the American Counseling Association (ACA), American Association of University Women (AAUW), American School Counselor Association (ASCA), New York State Disabilities Services Council, Central New York Postsecondary Disability Consortium, and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA).

Heather received her Master of Science degree and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Mental Health Counseling from SUNY Oswego, is a New York State licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and is currently completing her PhD.
